Anecdotes and thoughts on matters of life and philosophy. There'll be a bit of angst in here, but also tales of joy and "Awwww..." moments.

I was watching some classic episodes of "The Twilight Zone" recently. These were masterful works filmed using simple sets and low budgets, and yet Rod Serling managed to produce top-notch episodes that were both intelligent and entertaining.

This reminded me of how wretched and pitiful Philippine movies and TV shows are. People often excuse this by saying, "Oh, we are a poor nation. We don't have the multi-billion budgets that American studios have!" Nonsense. Rod Serling demonstrated that you can have quality television on a low budget, as did the likes of Red Skelton and Dick van Dyke. Heck, even old Japanimation such as "Speed Racer" is miles above most Philippine television.

The real problem is that my countrymen do not strive for excellence. They consistently adopt a "Pwede na iyan" attitude, and they even ridicule those work hard to produce their very best. No wonder the country is in such a dismal state.
