Stayed at a Motel 6, and what did I think...?

When I travel, I normally choose to stay at a Super 8 Motel or a Motel 6. That's because I'm a low-maintenance guy and I try to be frugal.

When I stayed at the Super 8 in Abilene, Texas, I was pleasantly surprised. The Wi-Fi access was great, and they provided a pretty darned good selection of amenities -- a coffeemaker and microwave oven in the room, a comfortable bed, and a pretty darned good breakfast spread. What's more, the staff was wonderful.

I had a very different experience at the Motel 6 in Gaithersburg, Maryland. No coffemaker in the room --- and for that matter, no shampoo. They didn't provide any list of nearby restaurants and other amenities, and they charged $2.99 for Wi-Fi access. They did have clean towels though, for which I was glad. Oh, and the bed was pretty good too.

I get the feeling that the Motel 6 there was trying to cut costs in whatever way possible. Would I stay there again? Probably, but only because of the cost. I'd prefer to stay someplace with better amenities, though.
