Stupid AVG. Stupid Google.

Last night, I was playing Text Twirl with some people online. This is a game where you have to create as many words as possible from a collection of six letters, and you have to do so within a two-minute time limit.

Well, as I was playing, AVG Antivirus suddenly threw up a status window, notifying me that it was downloading an updated set of virus signatures. That was well and nice, but in the meantime, it was preventing me from typing anything, and Windows XP would not let me dismiss the window. Argh!

And shortly after that, I got another message from Google as well -- due to my Google toolbar, I'd imagine. I don't know what it was about; all I know is that I was frantically trying to dismiss that window so that I coudl get back to playing the game.

I didn't score as well as I would have liked. I strongly believe that it's because these two programs messed me up. It's aggravating to know that some programmers design their software in a manner that says, "Oh, you must drop everything right away and pay immediate attention to this status window. It is surely much more important than anything else you must be doing!"
