Pedestrians in mall parking lots

I don't want to be a perpetual complainer, but I just have to rant a bit about those folks who insist on walking straight down the middle of the driving lanes in mall and supermarket parking lots.

Why don't they walk off to the side so that cars can make their way through? That's safer and better for everyone. Heck, some of them don't even bother to move even when they see that there's a car right behind them. Are they that self-absorbed?

This reminds me of a woman who held up traffic in a nearby suburb. Turns out that she was crossing a major street even though the DON'T WALK sign was on. The worst part was that she wasn't even hurrying. No, she was sauntering and less than normal speed, as though oblivious to the traffic that was building up. After she finally reached the curb, I tapped my horn as I passed by her. She gave me look as though to say, "What is this guy's problem?"
