Personal branding 

The following is from an article that someone sent me. Sadly, he did not properly attribute the source. ACtually, he gave no attributions whatsoever... the rat.

In the branded world we live in today, Personal Branding is more than
just a latent hot topic. It is not a new phenomenon, nor is it an
option. It is about how others perceive us - our very reputations. We
brand each other constantly by way of introduction, in describing one
another, or by articulating opinions about each other in person and in
the media. We all have a brand, whether it is positive, neutral or
negative, and all of this is going on whether we are managing the
process or not.
